Allied Trust Insurance Company (“ATIC”) is led by an experienced team of industry professionals who have profitably established and ran other Property & Casualty insurance companies in catastrophically exposed states.

Brian Keefer – President

Brian Keefer is a proven executive with extensive profit and loss experience in multiple organizations. His background includes cross-functional experience in executive and operations management, start-ups, turnarounds, product management, marketing, strategic planning, and business development. Brian has a consistent track record of leading companies to unprecedented levels of growth and profitability.

Prior to starting ATIC, Brian was Founder, President and CEO of Family Security Insurance Company, Inc. (“FSIC”), a multi-line, multi-state personal lines company. FSIC became the leading writer of Louisiana property insurance through the independent agent channel within eighteen months of entering the state, at a 15% fully developed loss ratio. Prior to founding FSIC, Mr. Keefer was Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Bankers Insurance Group. Brian led a team that turned around Bankers P&C operations from record losses to four straight years of record profitability lowering the combined ratio from 128 to 89 while growing revenue 38%. This core team has served with Brian at both FSIC and Allied Trust today.

Prior to Bankers, Brian managed Louisiana for Progressive Auto returning them to profitability by lowering the combined ratio from 113 to 93 while growing revenue 50% from $125 to $190 million. Companies under Brian’s leadership were considered Carrier of Choice and won Most Improved Carrier and multiple Company of the Year awards by PIA and Big I Agent Associations.

Brian earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Kansas.

Jennifer Gravelle – Chief Financial Officer

Jennifer is an industry veteran with over 21 years of accounting experience in P&C insurance. Her areas of responsibility include corporate accounting and finance, corporate budgeting and forecasting, regulatory compliance and human resource management.

Prior to joining ATI, Jennifer was the CFO of Olympus Insurance Company. She developed all accounting policies and procedures, internal controls over financial reporting and developed the human resource function for the start-up company. She was responsible for regulatory compliance. She coordinated audits with the independent accounting firm and all regulatory examiners.

Jennifer began her career in insurance working for Marsh Inc. in Burlington Vermont. She managed a portfolio of 13 captive insurance companies for a variety of Fortune 100 companies. It was an excellent opportunity to learn business acumen and risk management techniques. It was here that she developed her passion for building start-up entities.

Jennifer earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Champlain College in Burlington Vermont.

Ron Ligocki – Vice President of Claims & Operations

Ron has 31 years of claims experience, encompassing both  direct handling and management of personal and commercial  lines property and casualty losses: including all Homeowners and Dwelling forms, Small Business, Flood, Business Stock
losses, Boiler and Machinery, Auto Material Damage, and Motor Truck Cargo. Ron has claims handling and management experience as a Third-Party Administrator and Insurance Carrier.

After college, Ron began his career at Crawford and Company as a multi-line adjuster in Michigan, then as a Branch Claims Manager in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Ron has held various other management roles that include Field Claims Manager with Farmers Insurance, Vendor/Direct Repair Manager with Tower Hill Insurance, and Property Division Manager with Bankers Insurance. During that time, he was responsible for building high-performance teams, leading a concierge program that included a catastrophe response roster and claims triage program and served as the Infinity Group
Liaison with The Hartford and USAA.

 

Jeremy D. Baczkiewicz JD, MBA, CPCU – Vice President Underwriting & Compliance

Jeremy Baczkiewicz has 15 years underwriting experience, encompassing direct and independent agency business as well as managing personal lines departments with personal auto, homeowners, and umbrella products. Jeremy also has experience developing new products, implementing new systems such as Guidewire, designing and testing third party integrations, and handling market conduct exams and compliance standards in states such as Florida, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Prior to joining Allied Trust, Jeremy most recently served as the Eastern Region Underwriting Manager for Mercury Insurance Group. Jeremy gained experience while holding many roles in the Mercury organization and was successful in turning around a historically unprofitable book of homeowner’s business through the implementation of strategic underwriting processes.

Jeremy graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a B.S. Business Administration in 2003. He obtained a M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Tampa in 2005, graduating with honors. Jeremy achieved the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Designation from the AICPCU in 2011. Jeremy also served as a Senior Associate on Law Review while attending Stetson University College of Law, graduating in the top 10% of his class in 2017. Jeremy has served his community volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, the Federal Public Defender’s Office, doing pro-bono legal work for Bay Area Legal Services and is a proud member of the Florida Bar.

Russell McCollough – Actuary

Russell brings 24 years of P&C actuarial and insurance management experience to the team. He has extensive pricing, reserving, catastrophe exposure management, and database development skills and is continuing to build out Allied Trust’s products and capabilities from an actuarial perspective.

Russell started his career as an actuarial analyst at Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance, a six-state regional personal lines writer. He performed in multiple roles for the company over a 20-year period, including over 9 years as Senior Vice President – Actuary serving as their Chief Actuary. Over this period of time Russell gained an in-depth knowledge and understanding of pricing personal lines, including Homeowners and Personal Automobile. He was responsible for developing numerous products, programs, and enhancements over the years, and led successful initiatives to modernize the homeowners and automobile rating plans at Farm Bureau using an extensive multivariate rating analysis approach. These types of initiatives taught Russell to balance actuarial, competitive, and strategic goals along with the challenges of communicating and implementing those changes throughout the organization and to regulatory authorities.

Russell also gained significant perspective regarding natural catastrophe exposures in pricing, reserving, and reinsurance planning, having experienced the four Florida hurricanes of 2004, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the 2008 Arkansas severe thunderstorm events. Managing these exposures will be key for Allied Trust as we grow our book of business and expand into new states.

Russell received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Belhaven University in 1996. He became a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) in 2000 and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) in 2004.

Jennifer Gardner – Central Texas Territory Manager

Jennifer has a distinctive mix of industry knowledge that she brings to Allied Trust. Her experience includes Underwriting, Claims, Claims Leadership, Training, Sales, and Marketing. Most of her career has been spent dedicated to solving the insurance needs of Independent Agents in Central and South Texas.

Jennifer was a Territory Manager with Foremost Insurance since 2002. During those thirteen years, she consistently maintained profitable and steady growth among a varied portfolio of products, including homeowners, dwelling fire, auto, recreational vehicles, and small commercial.

Prior to her career with Foremost Insurance, Jennifer worked with the Non-Standard Auto product department at Nationwide Insurance. She has had a successful career in Claims and Underwriting with Farmers Insurance.

Jennifer is licensed as a General Lines Property & Casualty agent and a General Lines Property & Casualty Adjuster. She holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter Designation. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with degrees in Political Science and Anthropology.

Becky Martin – Houston & East Texas Territory Manager

Becky brings a wealth of insurance and agency knowledge and relationships to the Allied Trust team. She has enjoyed a 41-year Marketing career in the Texas insurance marketplace.

Becky previously served as the Senior Texas Territory Manager for American Strategic Insurance where she built up ASI from its entry to the market to where they are today. She joined ASI in 2004 serving as Territory Manager for the Houston, South, and West Texas markets for over twelve years.

After attending Midwestern State University, Becky began her insurance career as a CSR for an independent agency in Lubbock. In 1984, she became the West Texas marketing rep for American States Insurance Company. While at American States, Becky obtained the Accredited Adviser in Assurance (AAI) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations. She was also the recipient of the President’s Award for life production for two consecutive years.

Becky then joined Republic Insurance Company in 1997 where she was responsible for agency development, territory management and production for all of West Texas as well as the entire state of New Mexico before joining ASI.

Eddie Story – Louisiana Territory Manager

Eddie has extensive experience in underwriting, marketing and agency management in the P&C and L&H industry over the past 34 years in Louisiana and several other states within the Southeast Region.

At Family Security, Eddie recruited and managed a very loyal and profitable Louisiana agency base. The company was one of the fastest growing in the state during his four-year tenure.

Eddie was responsible for recruiting, contracting and training all agents and staff for the program. Previously, he launched an independent agency program for Direct General Insurance Co. in Tennessee and worked at Allstate Insurance Company in numerous positions including General Partner, Integration Product Manager and National Sales Manager.

During his years at Allstate, Eddie traveled extensively and managed a nine-state region with employee agents and independent agents for both P&C and L&H products. He also served as Louisiana Marketing Representative for Arrowhead General Insurance Agency and Automotive Casualty Insurance Company.

Eddie attended the University of New Orleans from 1979 to 1981 studying Pre-Physical Therapy. Eddie received his P&C license in 1987 and his L&H license in 2001.

Kya Miles – Senior Underwriter

Kya has extensive Personal Lines underwriting experience in numerous coastal exposed states.  Throughout her career, she has focused on building and maintaining strong agency relationships while applying excellent critical thinking skills in making balanced underwriting decisions.

Kya served as the Personal Lines Underwriter for Louisiana with Family Security as well as working with Willis Towers Watson as a Client Service Specialist, Wright Flood as a Flood Underwriter, sales experience as a Licensed Producer with Allstate, and Personal Lines Underwriting, Homeowners Customer Service and policy processing at Bankers.

Kya has her CISR designation, active 2-20 and 2-15 licenses and her Associate in Arts in General studies and Associate in Science in Business degrees from St. Petersburg College.

Ryan McFee – Senior Underwriter

Ryan has over 9 years of experience in property and casualty insurance specializing in private passenger auto. Throughout his career, he has focused on building strong relationships with agents and providing excellent customer service.

Prior to joining Allied Trust, Ryan worked at Mercury Insurance Group as a personal lines underwriter for multiple east coast states including Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Before working at Mercury, Ryan worked for an independent insurance agency developing key business relationships with multiple insurance carriers. There he was responsible for writing and managing the entire private passenger auto book of business.

Ryan has his 4-40 insurance license and attended St. Petersburg College studying business and accounting.
